The Museum of Beer & Brewing is proud to announce that

MILWAUKEE BREWING COMPANY

has received their federal & state brewing permits.

This paves the way for them to not only begin brewing,
but to develop their Tasting Room,
which will embrace MBB's exhibits
and host upcoming MBB events
.

Yes, at last, we're getting closer to a physical site.

Timeline for the completed Tour Center is Summer 2008,
just in time to embrace the Harley
Museum opening.

Congratulations to Jim McCabe,
his family and crew !!

The Museum of Beer & Brewing recently Celebrated the

Innovations and Inventions of

Fritz Gettelman

The latest Museum event, the Innovations and Inventions of Fritz Gettelman, was a huge success! Many people were excited to revisit a beer not brewed in Milwaukee since 1971 and we quickly reached capacity. A large reason for this was the wonderful article featured on the front page of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, if you haven't read it click here.

We had a room full of Gettelman memorabilia room thanks to Breweriana collectors Bob Pirie, Mike Tietz and Ken Stamm.

We also need to thank the American Breweriana Association for permission to reprint Nancy’s Gettelman article.

Thanks to A.O. Smith Corporation, Wisconsin State Historical Society, Heil Manufacturing for their assistance in replicating images and items in their archives and to UW-Milwaukee Archive Department, for their assistance in replicating images in the Gettelman archives and waiving fees for exhibition for their archival images.

Gettelman Breweriana Show

The highlight of the evening was recreation of the Gettelman's "$1000 Beer”. The beer was brewed by Dr. David Ryder, who Vice President of Brewing at Miller Brewing and also a Museum Board member. It was recreated in the Miller Technical Center with the recipe provided by Fred Gettelman from the family archives. Thank you Miller Brewing Company and the staff at the Miller Inn!
